Single "Serve" world....

I bought a cup of coffee - to drink at the cafe so I don't use another “to go” coffee shop cup...  I picked up a packet of sugar and as I ripped open the top I was reminded of the movie Fight Club and the conversation he had with himself on the plane - a single serve world…

"Everywhere I travel, tiny life. Single-serving sugar, single-serving cream, single pat of butter. The microwave Cordon Bleu hobby kit. Shampoo-conditioner combos, sample-packaged mouthwash, tiny bars of soap. The people I meet on each flight? They're single-serving friends"

Powerful words and I sat there and contemplated how the world is now and how I live my life and what my purpose is...

“The purpose of life is to be happy” says Don Miguel Ruiz in Mastery of Love.

"Becoming aware is about being responsible for what is your own life.  You are not responsible for what is happening in the world.  You are responsible for yourself.  You didn't come here with a great Mission to change society, but surely you come with a big Mission, an important Mission.

The real Mission you have in life is to make yourself happy, and in order to be happy, you have to look at what you believe, the way you judge yourself, the way you victimise yourself.  Be completely honest about your happiness. Don't project a false sense of happiness when you don't like yourself…"

Single focus on being happy?…

Aware of who you are - how you behave - what you believe in - and how you want to be.  The above brings to my mind the use of social media and the bullshit people write on it - of course this is my opinion and interpretation.  All the pictures of when we are happy, what about when we're not?….  Cryptic messages "I'm sad" - just say why, why wait for attention, some one to ask "oh no what's wrong". Just be honest with how you are feeling even when it's sad - angry etc- all the negative emotions we don't want to face but push aside.  Guess what - they come back - they come back as disease and illness. If we don't face the 'negative' and be aware of it - how can we appreciate happiness, love, joy and peace.

If our purpose is to be happy - can we be happy as “singles”, and by that I don’t mean single not in a relationship, but single as in not be part of something else.  Something bigger than just us on our own - so our own happiness reverberates and affects those around us.  Telling our stories and emotions, whatever they might be - with the intention of sharing with others so we all know we are not alone.

We are all one living on one planet - yet at times we live and treat each other as if we are ourselves a single species… Time to change maybe?

One last quote from the movie Fight Club...

Tyler Durden: "Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression.

Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives.

We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off.  It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fucking khakis. You're the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world."
